EAST Lindsey District Council has set its Council Tax increase at an inflation only rise of 2.5% for the next financial year – one of the lowest increases in the East Midlands!
The increase, in line with inflation, works out at a rise of only £2.43 per household for the whole year, based on an average Band D property.
At the same Council meeting the Council’s annual budget proposals of almost £20 millions pounds were also agreed by Councillors.
The money will be spent on improving and developing services to address the Council’s priorities, which include economic prosperity, health, cleanliness, waste and recycling and sport and leisure.
Money will be invested in major projects such as new a Customer Service Centre at Mablethorpe, as part of the Thorpe Sands Project and the Community Leisure Project in Louth, which will see the District provided with state of the art sports and leisure facilities for everyone to benefit from.
The Leader of East Lindsey District Council, Cllr Jeremy Webb, is delighted that the Council Tax increase for the forthcoming year has been kept to a minimum: “It is fantastic news that we have been able to keep our Council Tax increase to an inflation only rise, whilst increasing the amount of money being invested in the services we provide to our residents,” he said.
For more information about the services provided by East Lindsey District Council, visit the Council’s website at www.e-lindsey.gov.uk or call 01507 601111.

Home Library Service
Did you know that the Home Library Service could bring books or talking books to you in your own home if you have difficulty using your local library?
If you find it hard to get out of the house or carry your books home and if you don't have a friend or neighbour close by who could help then you may be eligible for the Home Library Service.
Councillor Brian Knight, the County Council's Executive Member for Cultural Services, said: "Volunteers visit customers at home, usually once a fortnight, and bring them a selection of the type of books they like to read. This service is provided free of charge by Lincolnshire Library Service and there are several vacancies for new customers in the Skegness area, particularly in and around Spilsby and Burgh le Marsh.
"Volunteers are always needed to help us to provide this important service. Could you spare two or three hours once a fortnight, or even once a month, to take part in this rewarding scheme?"
It is helpful (but not essential) to have your own transport and you will be reimbursed for travel costs.
For more information on the Home Library Service and on becoming a volunteer, please contact Alison Holloway, Community Librarian on (01754) 762475
